Latest Population Figures - Scarborough
Borough
1991 Census -

Mid-2001 Estimates
- 106,211
2001 Census -
106,243
Scarborough Town
1991 Census - 53,634
Mid-2001 Estimates - 52,190
(Includes Castle, Central,
Eastfield, Falsgrave, Newby, Northstead, Scalby, Weaponness and
Woodlands wards)
2001 Census - 50,135
(Includes Castle, Central,
Eastfield, Falsgrave Park, Newby, North Bay, Northstead, Ramshill,
Stepney, Weaponness and Woodlands wards)
Note: This does not necessarily
mean that the population of Scarborough Town has gone down. The
ward boundaries changed in May 2003 so it may be that the area
covered by Scarborough Town wards has been reduced. Scalby now
forms part of a ward along with Hackness and Staintondale so can no
longer be counted as being part of Scarborough Town as it was
previously.
Whitby Town
1991 Census - 13,632
Mid-2001 Estimates - 13,640
(Includes Mayfield and Streonshalh wards)
2001 Census - 13,594
(Includes Mayfield, Streonshalh and
Whitby West Cliff wards)
Note: Changes to ward boundaries may also have affected this
figure, although from comparing maps it appears as if the previous
Mayfield ward has just been split to produce Mayfield and Whitby
West Cliff wards.
Filey Town
1991 Census - 6,621
Mid-2001 Estimates - 6,680
2001 Census- 6,468
Note: Changes to ward boundaries means that the area covered by
the Filey ward has been reduced and no longer includes Hunmanby Gap
or Primrose Valley.
