History and heritage in Filey
A great place to learn about Filey’s history is the Filey Museum, now a single building. It was once a former fisherman's cottage and a farm cottage. The lovely whitewashed Filey Museum dates back to 1696 and charts the history and development of the town from a fishing and farming community to its later development as a seaside resort. St Oswald’s Church is another great place to visit if you love history as it is Filey’s oldest building which was built in the 12th century!
Just on the outskirts of Filey, you will also find The Scarborough Fair Collection Museum, a working steam museum which also features a collection of vintage fairground rides, street organs and much much more!
